Ear surgery can correct ears that appear too prominent for a variety of reasons. Although this procedure is most commonly performed on children, it is frequently performed in adults as well. Prominent ears can be reduced by either setting the ears further back against the skull, folding the ear cartilage back, or removing excess cartilage. The procedure of choice depends on the ear anatomy and why the ear appears to “stick out.”
