We are living in a 2020 that no one envisioned. Among other things, we are in the midst of a global pandemic that has changed the way we do life day-to-day in so many different ways. One of the most visible changes is wearing face masks. These are great for slowing the spread of COVID-19, but not so great for us with skincare needs like acne and dry skin.
Here are a few ways to keep your skin healthy while wearing your mask…
Wash Your Face
If you’re wearing your mask for longer than 5-10 minutes, you’ll want to wash your face ASAP. Especially if you’ve been sweating or were wearing makeup.
You don’t have to go through your entire skincare routine every time you wear a mask, but washing, toning and moisturizing will help cleanse the skin and free any debris the mask might have pushed into the skin.
Drink More Water
We know your favorite Instagram influencer has told you time and time again, but DRINK MORE WATER. No, seriously… one of the easiest ways to care for your skin is to simply drink enough water.
…and if you think you’re drinking enough water, you’re probably wrong. In fact, studies show that most Americans are already walking around dehydrated, without taking into account that wearing a mask makes us less likely to consume water while out and about. Just do yourself a favor and up the ounces, your skin (and the rest of your organs) will thank you.
Doing Laundry is Now Skincare
Remember to wash your mask after every or every other wear. Dirt, grime, oil, and, as we mentioned above, makeup that can build up underneath your mask and continue to be pushed into your pores.
Think of it like this, it is now an important skincare step to wash your mask… 2020, the gift that keeps on giving.
