What is Microneedling & How Does it Work?

Microneeding, in short, is a minimally invasive procedure in which very fine, short needles being inserted into the skin creating tiny microchannels in the outermost layer of the skin. This stimulates the production of collagen and elastin.

Skin rejuvenation is the ultimate purpose of microneedling. Expected results are improvement in skin texture, reduction in scars from acne or other past trauma to the skin, and an improvement in hyperpigmentation.

More on Microneedling…

Each session typically takes 30 minutes or less. The first step is to cleanse your face and apply numbing cream. This will ensure maximum comfort during the procedure. Even though results are typically noticeable after the first treatment, it generally takes three to six sessions over the course of a few weeks tp achieve the best results.

What to Expect After Your First Treatment

Redness and some swelling is expected. After the procedure, we recommend using a gentle non-foaming cleanser and a repairing moisturizer for a few days. Once the redness and swelling start to subside, you should notice an improvement to the overall look and feel of your skin. These results should continue to improve with time and, of course, additional sessions will help to enhance your results.

After a microneedling session, we advise patients not to touch their face for at least four hours. Additionally, you should avoid applying anything to your face for 24 hours afterward. Exercise and other strenuous activity need to be avoided for 12 hours. This helps to reduce redness and bruising. Last, but not least, it is critical that you avoid sun exposure for three days after the procedure.
