First we should fill you in about the different methods used in calf reduction. At the Avant Aesthetics, we offer 5 different methods of calf reduction- both invasive options and noninvasive options. A consultation with our own Dr. Liu will help to assess which one is right for you…

  • Calf liposuction
  • Radiofrequency
  • Selective neurectomy
  • Partial calf resection

You can read more about each method here.

Side Effects

Your side effects will ultimately depend on which method you choose…

However the primary side effect of calf reduction surgery is difficulty walking. This typically lasts for one or two weeks after surgery. After the first few weeks your body will adjust and full calf function should return.

If you have any additional questions about the side effects, your doctor will be happy to answer any question you may have during your consultation.

Pain and Recovery

Our patients have reported a feeling similar to a cramp in the calf for the first month or so following the procedure. As we mentioned above, you may have a bit of difficulty walking for the first few weeks.
